Success Story: CMMI Enhancements

Challenge:
— Client attempts to use “staff-augmentation” resources to address their SDLC did not yield the results they needed. The project was structured under severe time constraints and had fallen behind. Therefore, the team worked to bring the project back on schedule so effectively that it predicted early completion of the overall initiative. Realizing the cost take-out improvements and increased delivery capabilities needed by the business, they hired QA Consultants to improve their on-going software development lifecycle approach to future enhancements to its Amdocs Ensemble platform. By placing stringent and structured processes early in the development lifecycle, the client expects to reduce development costs and increase functionality of the application. The QA Consultants team provided business process and technical analysis and managed expectations and contributions of stakeholders across the business.
Results:
— Client was able to maintain its aggressive implementation schedule, and is now better positioned for success of future upgrades
— The process enhancements instituted by QA Consultants have taken the client’s organization to a higher level of the Capability Maturity Model (CMMI) defined as ‘repeatable’ (Level 2), to what could be defined as the ‘Managed’ level (Level 4)
— The tools developed by QA Consultants helped the client get reports that quantified the results of the activities performed by the development group and other stakeholder organizations during the SDLC. This has allowed the client to take rectification actions to address identified problem areas
— The documentation templates and formats put in place by QA Consultants for the client organization were commended and adopted by client’s documentation standards group
